Giresta-stipendat 2019

Mezzo soprano Elisabeth Leyser completed her final year at the University College of Opera in Stockholm in 2019. Recent engagements include her debut with Norrlandsoperan as Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel and Flosshilde in Das Rheingold at Vattnäs Konsertlada. 
Elisabeth did her graduation production in the Spring of 2019 as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Wermland Opera in Karlstad, and in late 2018 she sang the role of Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Royal Swedish Opera. During her studies at the University College of Opera, Elisabeth has sung the roles of Gertrude in Hamlet (Thomas) and Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel. Outside of the college, for Södertälje Opera, she has sung Orlovsky Die Fledermaus and Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Bellini).
Elisabeth has studied with the American baritone Robert Hyman since 2016. She is a recipient of the Bayreuth Stipend from the Gothenburg Wagner Society 2019 and the Royal Swedish Musical Academy National Stipend 2018.
In 2020 she will sing Adolfine in Lars Johan Werle's opera Tintomara with Läckö Slott Opera, and Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde for Folkoperan in Stockholm.
